Old Del Monte Area Luxury Home for Sale in Monterey, CA - Just Listed
At the end of a 250’ private drive is a gated contemporary oasis with a special luxury home for sale in the Old Del Monte neighborhood of Monterey, CA. Meticulously remodeled over a three-year period, this designer home is surrounded by Monterey pine and oak trees, making you feel as if you are living miles away from civilization. The good news is you are just a few minutes from downtown Monterey, the beach, restaurants and all the other amenities Monterey offers.
Once behind the gate of this Old Del Monte neighborhood Monterey home, you feel as though you just entered your own private retreat. The grounds are meticulously kept and there is a Zen-like feel to the property pulling you towards the front door. Once inside, it is obvious this mid-century modern style home wasn’t designed as a spec’ house. 12 Abinante Way started out as local architect Russell Haisley’s home that he designed and built for himself. There are several unique features to the house including the use of clerestory windows. This design allows the interior to be bathed with natural light that creates passive radiant heat which is stored in the polished concrete floors in the sunken living room. At night, the naturally heated concrete will help keep the house heated without the use of gas or electricity. These windows along with the other expertly sited windows offer a unique view of the Monterey pine trees above, around and in the canyon below.
The mostly single level floor plan has great flow and excellent livability. With the living space in the middle, the master retreat on one end and the other three bedrooms and a family room on the other end, everyone has their own private places to escape and hang out. In addition, there is an atrium, a den, a breakfast nook, a dining room, a large living room, several patios, a good-sized deck and an office that is part of the master suite, allowing plenty of room to snuggle up and read a book, do homework or just stare out into the beautiful forest.
The master retreat is light and bright with tons of windows and very clean lines. There is an office or what could be a sitting room with a private deck, a wet bar with a frig, sink and dishwasher that serves as a buffer between the main house and the actual bedroom and bath. The master bath, like the rest of the home has incredibly clean lines with modern cabinets, beautiful countertops, a fabulous walk in shower and a towel warmer. The views out into the Monterey pine forest in this part of the Old Del Monte neighborhood are tranquil and relaxing.
The materials used throughout the house are top notch. The floors in the kitchen, family room, office as well as the bedrooms and halls are imported European wood floors. The sunken living room is custom polished and stained concrete and the foyer floors are the original 1960’s tile that have been cleaned and restored. Just about every window in the house has been replaced with a much more energy efficient version of what came out. The electrical panels have been upgraded, LED lighting has been installed along with numerous outdoor motion lights. The entire home was rewired for wireless and internet plus cable/dish.
You will love the open kitchen in this home! It has been fully remodeled with new plumbing, all new name brand stainless steel appliances, new cabinets with soft close sliders, Ceaserstone counter tops, a Jado faucet and a dishwasher. The breakfast nook was recently expanded with great lines, a soaring ceiling and clerestory windows to really finish off the kitchen and allow plenty of natural light and the beauty of outside to flow inside.
Finishing off the main house, there is a remodeled laundry room with granite counter tops and a host of cabinets. In addition to the two-car garage, there is room for 2 more cars off the family room.
12 Abinante Way comes with a whole host of extras. Please contact Mark Bruno or Jeff Davi for a complete list of what comes with the house.
Old Del Monte Neighborhood in Monterey, CA
The Old Del Monte neighborhood in Monterey CA consists of the homes that were built around or near the Old De Monte Golf Course over a wide spread of time. This area is one of the nicer areas in Monterey with homes in general being larger than average and sitting on lots that are above average in size. The majority of the homes here are mid-century modern homes or California ranch style homes with many Spanish Revival homes sprinkled in. Although there are homes that sit directly on Old Del Monte Golf Course, they really do not come on the market for sale that often and when they do they typically start over $1,000,000 and can go up significantly from there.
Homes in general are an eclectic mixture, like most of Monterey and the Monterey peninsula cities with big beautiful luxury homes built right next to older homes in need of remodeling. Manor Road, Jacks Road and Deer Flat Road have some very large estate homes as does Castro Road, especially along the Old Del Monte Golf Course side of the street.
The Littlefield area, including Abinante Way is a very nice development offering home owners privacy and the feeling of being in a safe community where everyone seems to know everyone else.
The Old Del Monte neighborhood runs from Mark Thomas Drive to the west, Josselyn Canyon Road to the north, Aquajito Road as its southern boundary and Monhollan Road as its boundary to the East.
