2016 Monterey Car Week Schedule of Events

The 2016 Monterey Car Week is already upon us!  It seems like just a few months ago the streets were alive with the sound of exotic, muscle and classic cars from the 2015 Monterey Car Week. The town is buzzing with all of the set up and anticipation of this years car shows, auctions and events.  I have noticed locals getting their prized possessions detailed and ready to show off while the auto transporters have been busy bringing in out of town vehicles for the week.

Whether it is the thrill of the auctions, the chrome of the classics, the speed of the exotics or just the fun of people watching, there is no doubt that you will enjoy yourself while here on the Monterey Peninsula for Car Week!

Concours on the Avenue Carmel-by-the-Sea

Well over 175 cars will be on display in groups of juried classes during Carmel-by-the-Sea Concours on the Avenue. These will include Luxury Cars, Muscle Cars, Hot Rods and Sporting Cars. Free Admission

Classic Motorsports Magazine Monterey Kick Off Cruise-in

Kick off Monterey Car Week in style with the the staff of Classic Motorsports. They'll be gathering with a few hundred of There closest friends at beautiful Folktale Winery. Bring your cool classic car and enjoy fine wines, food and music. 

Monterey Auto Lux

The Monterey Auto Luxe is an Engaging, High-end, Luxury Emporium taking place during Monterey Car Week. They are bringing you the Best of the Best in Luxury Vendors, World Class Hospitality, and Exceptional Entertainment.

August 17th 2016 (Wednesday) 

Carmel Mission Classic (Blessing of the Cars)

A one of a kind event combining the passion for fine automobiles with the Faith and the Palate. Enjoy wine tasting by some of the Monterey County's finest vineyards, self-guided tour and beautiful live harp music in the background as you stroll the grounds of the crown jewel of the Monterey Peninsula, the Historic Carmel Mission. A no host gourmet food bar will also be available by a local chef. 

The Little Car Show

Noon - 5:00 pm

The Little Car Show will feature Japanese vehicles this year, but we'll accept 100 vehicles 40 years and older, 1975 and older, micro, mini and arcane vehicles under 1,601cc and all electric vehicles. In addition for our 6th annual show we are going to add one block downtown devoted to "Orphan Cars of the Fifties". The show will be renamed "The Little Car Show +", the "+" representing the 1950's orphan cars. Orphan cars are cars that were made by companies that are no longer in existence i.e. Crosley, Hudson, Kaiser, Nash, Packard, Studebaker, Willys etc.

Pebble Beach Tour d'Elegance Presented by Rolex

Initiated to showcase the elegance of the automobile in motion, the Tour also underscores the early history of the place that is Pebble Beach. Decades before golf links were laid out along the edge of the Pacific Ocean, this area was known for its scenic drive, winding for miles through the pine and cypress forest, dancing alongside dramatic cliffs and leading, ultimately, to a beautiful crescent-shaped bay.

Legends of the Autobahn

Now in its sixth year, the Legends Of The Autobahn® concours has become a local and regional sensation. In 2011, with the North American debut of the BMW 328 Hommage concept car, the event gained international recognition. 22nd ANNUAL PACIFIC GROVE CONCOURS AUTO RALLY

The Auto Rally fundraiser is a partnership between the PG Youth Action and PG Rotary.  The Auto Rally was started in 1995.  Through its history, rally beneficiaries have included the Pacific Grove Youth Center, the DARE programs for Pacific Grove and Carmel, Pacific Grove High School driver training scholarships, and other youth programs.

Hoopties, Rust Buckets, Misfits, Mistakes and the worst of the automotive world will be on display and as always celebrity judges will be accepting bribes for our Thrift Shop sourced trophies. Hagerty Insurance has inexplicably sponsored the debacle yet again, so its really all their fault. Look for the Hagerty folks to bring a touch of class to this otherwise downmarket affair. The best part is that the show is free for participants and spectators, so you’ll get exactly what you pay for.
