Bay Ridge Ocean View French Chateau for Sale
Majestic, spacious, private and secure are words I would use to describe this Bay Ridge French chateau perched up high with expansive views of Monterey Bay, the Salinas Valley and the surrounding mountains. Expertly sited on 3.75 acres by local award-winning architect Eric Miller this gated estate boasts over 5700 square feet of living space including 5 bedrooms, 4 full and 2 half bathrooms and an additional 1168 square feet of outdoor patios including a 674 square feet grand terrace. Inside you are treated to dramatic 18’ ceilings with crown molding in the living room and dining room, a soaring 2 story entry with a custom chandelier, a spacious master suite on the main level of the home and tons of natural light bathing the interior. Whether it is an intimate view of the impeccably landscaped grounds, a view of the city lights of Salinas, or the dramatic views of the valley and bay, every room has its own view. This estate is something you must see in person.
Once you pass through the private gate, you approach the formal entry through a porte cachere. When you walk through the front doors, you are greeted to a fabulous view looking out over the grand terrace to the mountain range on the other side of the valley. There is natural light coming in from 2 stories above! The main level offers almost 3500 square feet of living space and includes everything you need to enjoy this wonderful home. There is a living room with 18’ ceilings and a fireplace, a formal dining room, also with 18’ ceilings, each with fantastic views. The kitchen boasts custom maple cabinets with granite countertops and stainless-steel appliances and the adjacent family room has a fireplace and there is a conveniently placed breakfast nook. Off the family room, there is a set of French doors leading out to a 300 square feet patio, which is perfect for BBQing or enjoying the fantastic weather Bay Ridge has to offer.
The main level master suite is elegant and spacious at approximately 700 square feet, feels more like a suite at a high-end resort! There is a fireplace with a sitting area, dual walk-in closets, a jetted tub, walk in shower and dual vanities.
The main level is also home for a more formal powder room near the entry, a wet bar, making it a great set up for entertaining. There is also a less formal ½ bathroom, mud room and a laundry room near the three-car garage.
The upper level is accessed through a grand staircase near the entry, or there is a second stairway near the garage side of the lower level. Once upstairs, you will notice an abundance of natural light coming through the many well-placed windows on this level plus the open areas from the rooms below on the main level. One of my favorite features of this home are the den and the sitting room on this level. Each is well placed with great natural light and can be configured for so many different purposes, depending on your specific needs.
There are 4 bedrooms on the upper level and three full baths. The largest of the bedrooms on this level (bedroom 2 on the floor plan) is over the main level master suite. It is nearly 300 square feet with incredible views and great natural light. It has a walk-in closet, and it shares a spacious bathroom with an additional bedroom (bedroom 3) on the other side of the bathroom. At the other end of the home, there are two additional bedrooms. The fourth bedroom is a traditional bedroom and utilizes the hall bathroom. The fifth bedroom is a mini suite with its own bathroom and a walk-in closet. All the bedrooms have exceptional views and great natural light.

Where is Bay Ridge?
Saddle Road and Bay Ridge are located off of HWY 68 just 10 minutes from downtown Monterey and the Monterey Bay. Access to all Monterey Peninsula cities is easy from the scenic HWY 68 Corridor with Carmel, Pacific Grove and Pebble Beach just a few more minutes away. Even closer is Laguna Seca Raceway, Pasadera Country Club and the Monterey Airport. This 10-minute drive can make all of the difference when it comes to Monterey area weather. Residents of the Bay Ridge neighborhood can expect warmer days with more sunshine and a lot less foggy weather. If you are looking to escape the coastal fog, Boots Road and the Bay Ridge area is a great place to start your search.
Bay Ridge was established in 1985 on top of the southern hills above Scenic HWY 68, just 5 miles outside of Monterey, CA. There is approximately 400 acres of land inside the gates of Bay Ridge, including 113 residential lots that range in size from 1.7 acres to 15 acres. The terrain is hilly as you would expect for the coastal ranges of California and at an average of 1100 feet above sea level, the views can be quite amazing! There are breathtaking views of the Monterey Bay as it wraps around to Santa Cruz. The twinkling lights of Salinas are also visible along with the Salinas Valley, Mount Toro and the Santa Lucia Mountains. There are also golf course view homes, with several golf courses in the valleys below.
Bay Ridge was once touted as the Pebble Beach in the sun. The views are smashing, and the weather is far superior to that of the coastal areas. Many thought Bay Ridge would instantly take off as one of the favorite places on the Monterey Peninsula for people to live. As such, some very spectacular homes have been built in Bay Ridge over the years. Although it never quite reached Pebble Beach status, many locals prefer living in Bay Ridge over the peninsula based on the weather and lifestyle it offers.
