“The Village” as locals call it is a quaint little town located 12 miles east from the famous village of Carmel-by-the-Sea, that gets all of the national attention. However in the last 20 or so years, the Carmel Valley and especially the Village has been making news as one of the hottest wine destinations in the state. With big winery names like Talbott, Galante, Morgan, Bernardus and Heller Estate, it is no wonder the wine business and tasting rooms are starting to put this small community on the map.
The best part about Carmel Valley and the Village is it’s comfortable, unpretentious feel. It is a great place to raise a family. The public schools are great, among the best in Monterey County and there are tons of outdoor activities to take advantage of year-round.
The weather in Carmel Valley and the Village is outstanding. It is roughly 15 degrees warmer than the coast in the summer months and is just beyond the reach of the fog most days, making it a great place to escape from the coastal "June gloom." Winter mornings are crisp but give way to warmer temps as the day progresses and ultimately are comparable to the coast’s mild winters although snow can fall in the Village. When snow does fall in Carmel Valley, it never sticks unless you are in Cachagua in the higher elevations.
The Carmel Valley Village neighborhood, especially the area just southwest of the village center down by the Carmel River, is one of the best areas in Monterey County to bring your kids for some Halloween trick or treating! Some years, thousands of kids will show up in this little neighborhood to collect their share of sugary treats.
